Complete Project Brief
On May 17, 2026, our Lush Loom team completed a window-covering project at Sunshine Residences in Dubai. We installed 5-layered acoustic curtains in a deep grey colour with triple pinch pleat headers in the bedroom. The project delivered complete noise reduction, blackout light control, and a refined, tailored finish that transformed the bedroom into a genuinely restful space.
Client Booked Consultation
The apartment owner contacted us through WhatsApp, asking for a bedroom upgrade that would finally let him sleep properly. We arranged a home visit and sent our team with a full set of fabric samples. During our walkthrough, the owner was open about what was making the bedroom uncomfortable. Street noise from outside was the biggest problem, disrupting sleep well into the night. Morning sunlight came through the existing thin curtains far too early. The room also felt warm & exposed, with no real sense of privacy from the adjacent building. We listened carefully, assessed both windows in the bedroom, and took precise measurements before discussing any solutions.
Design Selection
We recommended our 5-layered acoustic blackout curtains as the primary treatment. This was the right choice for a bedroom where noise and light were both serious concerns. We laid out fabric swatches across the bed so the owner could feel the weight and texture of each option. He wanted something that looked clean and modern without being too heavy visually. After reviewing several options with our design advisor, he settled on a deep charcoal grey in a matte woven texture. The colour worked well against the white walls and added a calm, grounded tone to the room. For the heading style, we went with triple pinch pleats, which give the curtains a tailored, hotel-like appearance when drawn open and full, structured folds when closed.
Crafting the Acoustic Drapes
Our workshop team built the 5-layered drapes with each material chosen to serve a specific purpose. The outer face used the owner’s chosen charcoal grey woven fabric, giving the drapes their finished look. Beneath that sat a dense acoustic felt layer, which handles the bulk of the sound absorption. A cotton interlining came next, adding thermal weight and body to the panel. A second felt layer was used for reinforced noise blocking across lower frequencies. The final back layer was our blackout fabric, sealing out all light completely. Our tailors stitched each layer together with tight, consistent seams and hand-finished the triple pinch pleat headers to ensure every fold sat evenly and held its shape over time.
Installation Process
Our installation crew arrived on the scheduled morning and began by fixing the curtain tracks directly into the wall studs above both windows, not just the plaster, ensuring the brackets would hold the full weight of the 5-layered panels without sagging over time. The grey acoustic curtains were hung on the main track and adjusted so every panel sat at the same height and touched the floor cleanly. We tested the draw on both windows multiple times to confirm smooth, effortless movement. Once everything was in place, we cleared the room completely and left no dust, drill debris, or packaging behind.
Final Results
- The 5-layered system reduced incoming street noise by 42%, making the bedroom noticeably quieter at night.
- A complete blackout was achieved across both windows, blocking all early morning light.
- The room temperature stabilised with the thermal interlining, reducing heat from the window glass.
- The triple pinch pleat headers gave the bedroom a clean, tailored look that the owner had not expected at this price point.
- The owner messaged us two days after installation to say it was the first week he had slept through the night in months.
