Project Overview
The Lush Loom team recently completed another window covering project at Apartment 1206, Imperial Avenue, Downtown Dubai. We installed blackout and sheer curtains in a layered design. This project required special expertise due to a unique bay window that needed curved track installation.
Client’s Privacy & Light Control Challenges
The apartment owner contacted us requesting a home visit. We arrived promptly to examine the windows and understand the challenges. The apartment is surrounded by tall buildings. Neighboring apartments created direct visibility into the living space. Privacy was completely compromised during the day & night. Additionally, glass surfaces from nearby buildings reflected harsh sunlight into the apartment. This created strong glare and uncomfortable brightness throughout the day. The owner needed an effective solution for both privacy and light control.
The Bay Window Challenge
Our team assessed the window design carefully during the site visit. The main window featured a bay structure with multiple angled sections. Standard straight curtain tracks would not work for this type of window. We needed to install curved tracks that could follow the bay window’s shape perfectly. The tracks must bend smoothly while maintaining strength to support the drapes.
Design Selection
We discussed color and fabric options with the owner. For the blackout layer, the client chose white and grey tones with an elegant marble pattern. This sophisticated design complemented the apartment’s modern interior beautifully. For the sheer layer, plain white fabric was selected. The owner requested a pinch pleat header style for both curtain layers. We agreed to create even pinches across the entire width for a uniform, tailored look.
Custom Track Installation
Our skilled technicians began with the curved track installation. They measured the bay window’s angles precisely. Each bend point required an exact calculation to match the window’s curve perfectly.
We installed the tracks section by section, ensuring smooth curves at every angle. The tracks followed the bay window shape seamlessly. This custom installation allows the curtains to cover the entire window area without gaps.
Preparing the Curtain Headers
We prepared both curtain sets with pinch pleat headers. Our team created triple pinches at even intervals across each panel. Metal hooks were attached behind each pinch for hanging on the tracks. The blackout curtains with marble patterns received the same careful attention as the white sheers. Every pleat needed to match perfectly for a professional finish.
Layered Installation
We hung the curtains in a strategic layered arrangement. The blackout went on the front track closest to the room. The white sheer was placed on the back track near the window. This layering system gives the owner complete control. During the day, they can close only the sheers for privacy with soft light. At night, they can draw both layers for total darkness and maximum privacy.
Results Achieved
- The curved tracks fit the bay window perfectly with no gaps.
- Privacy is fully restored despite the surrounding high-rise buildings.
- Light reflection from nearby buildings no longer causes glare.
- The marble-patterned blackout adds sophisticated style.
- White sheers provide daytime privacy without blocking all light.
- The pinch pleat style creates elegant and uniform folds.
- Both window coverings operate smoothly on their curved tracks.
